COGNITIVE BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY (CBT)

Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based therapeutic approach that focuses on the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. Dr. Hei provides CBT to help clients overcome mental health challenges by identifying and modifying unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour. COMPASSION FOCUSED THERAPY (CFT)

Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) is a therapeutic approach that emphasizes cultivating compassion for oneself and others to promote healing and well-being. By implementing this approach, Dr. Hei helps clients develop a kind and understanding attitude towards themselves, addressing self-criticism and shame. Dr. Hei also explores with clients the role of compassion in relationships, fostering empathy and healthier connections. Through mindfulness and imagery exercises, Dr. Hei guides clients to develop self-acceptance and a compassionate outlook, leading to personal growth and improved mental health.

ACCEPTENCE & COMMITMENT THERAPY (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a therapeutic approach that focuses on accepting difficult thoughts and emotions while committing to actions aligned with personal values. Rather than trying to eliminate or suppress unwanted experiences, ACT helps individuals develop psychological flexibility and resilience. Dr. Hei work with clients to identify core values and set meaningful goals, while learning mindfulness techniques to observe and detach from distressing thoughts. By embracing acceptance and taking committed action, individuals can cultivate a rich and fulfilling life, even in the presence of challenges or discomfort. DIALECTICAL BEHAVIOUR THERAPY (DBT)

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a therapeutic approach that combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness practices. Dr. Hei utilises DBT techniques to help clients manage intense emotions, self-destructive behaviors, and challenges in relationships. DBT focuses on emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. Through practical skills for acceptance and change, Dr. Hei guides clients towards personal growth and emotional well-being.

MINDFULNESS

Mindfulness is a practice that involves intentionally bringing one's attention to the present moment with open curiosity and non-judgment. It is a therapeutic approach that promotes self-awareness, emotional regulation, and overall well-being. Through mindfulness, individuals learn to observe their thoughts and emotions without getting entangled in them, fostering a greater sense of clarity and inner calm. Dr. Hei offers mindfulness-based interventions to help clients cultivate mindfulness skills and integrate them into their daily lives. With Dr. Hei's guidance, clients can experience reduced stress, improved focus, and enhanced overall mental and emotional well-being.

IQ TEST

An IQ test is a scientific method of measuring an individual's cognitive abilities. Through the use of standardized assessment tools, it evaluates and analyzes an individual's abilities in areas such as fluid reasoning, general knowledge, visual-spatial processing, quantitative reasoning, and working memory. This helps determine the individual's intelligence quotient (IQ) and identify their strengths and weaknesses. Dr. Hei utilizes the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale (Fifth Edition) to conduct IQ tests for children, adolescents, and adults.

ADHD ASSESSMENT

ADHD is a neurophysiological and hereditary disorder that is quite common in childhood development. Its symptoms primarily include inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. Approximately 65% of children and adolescents with ADHD continue to experience these symptoms into adulthood. The prevalence of ADHD is higher in males than females during childhood, but this ratio appears to even out in adulthood. Dr. Hei assesses children, adolescents, and adults with ADHD by conducting interviews with family members to understand the client's medical and family history. Additionally, standardized behavioral assessment scales are administered for evaluation, and interviews and clinical observations are conducted with the client. Dr. Hei provides detailed assessment reports and relevant documents to support students with special needs in their application for special examination arrangements. ​ For clients in Hong Kong, after assessment, if necessary, Dr. Hei provides referral documents to assist in accessing the following services: ​ (a) Psychiatric Service under the Department of Health for follow-up services. ​ *Dr. Hei's assessment reports are recognised in Hong Kong and in the United Kingdom.

AUTISM ASSESSMENT

Dr. Hei assesses children, adolescents, and adults for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) through conducting interviews with family members to understand the patient's medical and family history using the Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADIR) . Observing the client's social interactions, communication skills, and play behaviours using the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule-Second Edition (ADOS-2). For clients in Hong Kong, after assessment, if necessary, Dr. Hei provides referral documents to assist in accessing the following services: ​ (a) Child Assessment Centre (CAC) under the Department of Health for follow-up services. (b) Social Welfare Department for placement services, including: - Early Education and Training Centre (EETC) - Integrated Programme in Kindergarten-cum-Child Care Centre (IP in KG-cum-CCC) - On-site Pre-school Rehabilitation Services (OPRS) - Special Child Care Centre (SCCC) ​ *Dr. Hei's assessment reports are recognised in Hong Kong and in the United Kingdom.

DYSLEXIA ASSESSMENT

Dyslexia, as defined by the International Dyslexia Association, is a learning disability characterized by significant difficulties in reading, writing, and spelling, primarily stemming from insufficient decoding skills. It is a neurologically-based learning disability that is not dependent on age, other cognitive abilities, or the learning environment. Dr. Hei specializes in assessing dyslexia in English-speaking students. The assessment process includes conducting interviews with the client and their family members to gather comprehensive medical and family history, administering intelligence assessments, and conducting Dyslexia Portfolio assessments. In cases where necessary, Dr. Hei provides detailed assessment reports and relevant documents to support students with special needs in their application for special examination arrangements. *Dr. Hei's assessment reports are recognised in Hong Kong and in the United Kingdom.

COMPREHENSIVE PRE-SCHOOLER
DEVELOPMENTAL ASSESSMENT

Dr. Hei provides comprehensive, objective, and reliable assessments for the growth and development of preschool children aged two to six. The assessments cover seven major developmental domains, including: 1) Cognition 2) Speech 3) Social Cognition 4) Emotion 5) Fine Motor Skills 6) Gross Motor Skills 7) Attention & Concentration ​ For clients in Hong Kong, after assessment, if necessary, Dr. Hei provides referral documents to assist in accessing the following services: ​ (a) Child Assessment Centre (CAC) under the Department of Health for follow-up services.
